Preparing for the Injection

When you are ready to inject your medicine:

  • Remove the pre-filled syringe from the fridge
  • Prepare alcohol swabs for sterilizing the injection site
  • Have a sharps container ready to dispose of the needle

Check the Medication

  1. The medication should be clear and free of particles. If it appears discolored or cloudy, don’t use it and contact us.
  2. Ensure you are using the medication within 45 days of the reconstitution date on your Treatment Plan

Choose Your Injection Site

Tirzepatide is injected subcutaneously (under the skin) in areas with fatty tissue. Common injection sites include:

  • Abdomen: Avoid the area within 2 inches of your belly button.
  • Thighs: Use the front part of your thighs.
  • Upper Arms: The back of your arms can also be used if accessible.

Weekly injections don’t irriitate most people, but you can change your injection sites a bit to minimize irritation
